I’m mixing it up a little bit with something different with this post – I’m hosting a giveaway and sharing my newfound love for my JORD wood watch!
Now, if you’ve seen me posting on social media you already know my trusty GPS running watch makes an appearance from time to time. It keeps me honest with my paces while I’m training, it survives runs in the rain and snow, it’s a workhorse. But one thing it doesn’t do? Transition to my work wardrobe. I love it, but let’s be honest, that neon green is going to clash with just about everything in my closet.
Working *what feels like* around the clock means it’s critical my sessions with clients and patients start on time and end on time. I can’t afford to fall behind otherwise I’d basically have to live in my office! So what’s a young entrepreneur to do? Not wear a watch?
This unique watch has been a lifesaver – it fits seamlessly into my busy schedule and is comfortable enough to wear on my 12 hour days with ease. Normally I’d be itching to tear a watch off my wrist, either because it doesn’t stay in place or it gets in the way. Not the case with this one.
The other reason having a watch on me is so important? I make a conscious effort to get up and MOVE throughout the day. It’s easier to get in a focused grind and plug away at whatever it is I’m working on – but as a dietitian I know the research, and it supports that hourly movement is so beneficial it shouldn’t be skipped! Simply getting up and walking for a few minutes each hour can be a mini metabolic shock to your system. An active lifestyle is great, but if you’re completely sedentary the rest of the time, you’re downplaying the benefits you could be getting.
Not only that, but there’s evidence that movement throughout the day can support better blood sugar regulation. Plus it’s a chance to give your brain a break and come back to your work feeling refreshed and recharged.
I went for their Frankie style in the Zebrawood & Navy color combo. Partly because I’m obsessed with the Netflix series Grace & Frankie (anyone else?). I think I can channel a little bit of both characters depending on the day. But I was also drawn to the gorgeous color – navy is such a favorite of mine I used in my wedding and it’s neutral enough to still bounce between outfits with no risk of color faux pas. Trust me, I’m no fashion blogger and I definitely cannot tell the difference between navy and black in certain lights. Thankfully that’s not a concern with this watch, the deep blue color is simply beautiful!
